JOIN THE MUSEUM |
Volunteering provides an opportunity to learn and share knowledge and to be actively involved in an exciting part of the Humboldt Bay Maritime Museum. Volunteers will develop an understanding of Maritime history, have a close working relationship with professional staff. Volunteers also get notification of upcoming museum events prior to general public announcements, free or reduced admission to special events and programs, a holiday volunteer recognition party, and a 10% discount at the museum store. Most of all, you will be recognized as the valuable resource that you are. |
The following positions are available Museum Docent Greet visitors and conduct guided and general gallery tours. All you need is a love of history and an enthusiasm for talking with people. Enjoy teaching people of all ages about maritime culture while being sensitive to different cultures and issues. Library/Reference-FILLED Various projects, such as cataloguing and indexing books for use by patrons. Assist patrons in researching and help staff answer correspondence questions. Photograph Archivist -FILLED Organizing and cataloging archival photo collection in a usable fashion. Data entry for photograph inventory project. Assist patrons in photograph research. Web Page Assistant Post articles about North Coast maritime history for use on the Humboldt Bay Maritime Museum web site. Assist with design and maintenance of web page.
