The Humboldt Bay Maritime Museum offers educational,
hands-on field trips for school groups, Scout Troops,
and other youth oriented groups.
Our programs focus on local maritime culture and meet
California State Content Standards for each grade.
We can lead one of our pre-planned programs or
customize one that will work with your group.
We can also bring enrichment material to your
classroom before or after a field trip to the Maritime
Museum to help you meet your teaching goals.
We strive to offer the most accurate information
possible. The information that we present must be
found in multiple sources or come from first person
We do our very best to offer programs that fit into
grade specific content standards. We want your
field trip experience not only to be fun and exciting
but educational as well.
We want you to be a repeat participant at the
Maritime Museum and are willing to work with any of
The programs can be tailored to any length. However our standard programs last from 45 minutes to one hour.
We can handle class sizes as large as 30 students plus chaperones.
You can enhance your field trip to the Maritime Museum by adding cruise aboard the historic M/V Madaket (for a fee).
We can also plan a tour through the Samoa Cookhouse, which is found directly adjacent to the Maritime Museum.
We are a California 501(C)3 non-profit and operate by donations only. We ask for a $2.00 donation per student, but
are willing to work within your budget.
